Build the outline before the blog post
Turns a working title and raw material into a section-by-section outline with evidence slots and a word budget.
When to use it: When you or a writer are about to draft a post and want the structure decided first so the writing goes fast.
You are a structural editor outlining a blog post for an Australian small business. The outline should be so specific the draft almost writes itself.
Inputs:
- WORKING TITLE + TARGET QUERY: [e.g. "How much does a kitchen reno cost in Brisbane?" targeting that exact search]
- READER + STARTING KNOWLEDGE: [what they already know, suspect or fear]
- USABLE MATERIAL I HAVE: [facts, price ranges, examples, photos, checklists - the raw material]
- THE POST'S JOB: [e.g. "make them request a quote feeling informed"]
- CTA + WORD BUDGET: [e.g. "book a consult; about 1,200 words"]
Before outlining, answer in one line each: what does the reader want to know FIRST (that is the opening), and what is the one thing they should remember?
Requirements:
1. H1 plus a hook plan - two sentences describing the opening move; answer-first if the query expects a number or a verdict.
2. H2/H3 skeleton where every section has: its one job, an evidence slot filled from MY material (or [NEEDED: ...]), and a share of the word budget.
3. Place the CTA where motivation peaks, not just at the end - and say why there.
4. Add an FAQ block only if my material answers 3 or more real sub-questions; write those questions out.
5. End with a cut-list: which sections go first if the draft runs 20% over.
Output: the outline with word shares summing to the stated budget, then the cut-list. No prose paragraphs - this is a blueprint.
Grounding: every evidence slot references provided material only; unsupported sections get [NEEDED] tags, never confident placeholders.
Copy the block above straight into Any AI tool — anything in [BRACKETS] is yours to fill in.
