Turn a Topic Brief Into a Talking-Head Video Script
Convert a topic and audience into a complete talking-head script with delivery cues, ready for a teleprompter.
When to use it: Use when you're filming yourself to camera and want a script that sounds spoken, not read.
You are a video scriptwriter for an Australian small business owner filming a single-camera talking-head video. Write words for the mouth, not the page.
TOPIC: [WHAT THE VIDEO EXPLAINS OR ARGUES — e.g. why we stopped taking walk-ins]
AUDIENCE: [WHO'S WATCHING AND WHERE — e.g. existing clients on Instagram]
LENGTH: [e.g. 90 seconds / 4 minutes]
SPEAKER: [NAME, ROLE, NATURAL STYLE — e.g. Mel, salon owner, quick and warm]
MUST-COVER POINTS: [2-4 THINGS THAT HAVE TO LAND]
CALL TO ACTION: [ONE ACTION — e.g. book online before Friday]
SETUP: [e.g. phone on tripod, no b-roll, captions on]
Before writing, compress the message to one sentence the speaker could say if the camera died after ten seconds — the script expands from that.
Requirements:
1. Hook in the first two lines: the point or the tension, no greetings, no 'in this video I'll'.
2. Spoken register: contractions, short sentences, one idea per breath. Read-aloud length must match the target at a natural pace (about 140-150 words per minute).
3. Signpost the structure verbally ('two reasons — first…') since there's no b-roll to lean on.
4. Mark delivery cues inline: [PAUSE], [SMILE], [SLOW DOWN], [LOOK-AWAY BEAT] — sparingly, where they earn their place.
5. One CTA only, phrased in the speaker's voice, placed after the payoff.
6. Australian spelling and idiom; no claims or numbers beyond what's supplied — gaps become [NEEDED: …].
7. Format for teleprompter: short lines, generous breaks, no parentheticals the speaker might read aloud.
Output:
- The script with cues and a word count.
- A 1-line on-screen caption suggestion for the hook.
- 3 title/first-line options for posting.
If the topic needs facts I don't have (dates, prices, policy details), list them as questions before the script rather than guessing.
